Pedestrian & bycicle bridge (timber frame construction)

The new truss bridge over the Traun River connects Wels and Schleissheim in Upper Austria. The so-called Roman Bridge, which features small viewing platforms, will open in spring 2025. Key considerations in the planning of the wooden bridge were sustainability, accessibility, load-bearing capacity, and the expansion of the existing cycle path network.

Material

HMR750 Tension Rod Systems

Thread sizes:

  • M20 and M36 to support the truss
  • M20 and M30 as cross bracing to stiffen the top and bottom chords
  • almost 6 t of round steel bars in total

guaranteed design load: up to 423 kN

special components:

  • Cross bracing in the lower chords each crossed with HMR750 cross couplers

HMR Corrosion Protection

  • Systems hot-dip galvanised to DIN EN ISO 1461 in accordance with corrosivity category C3H
  • Special HMR thread coating corresponding to hot-dip galvanising => high corrosion protection and durability of the systems
  • Powder coating in RAL shade 7001 (silver gray) to corrosion class C3 with high durability applied by Haslinger Dienstleistungen
  • Application of HMR sealant for increased protection of threads up to corrosivity category C5 with high durability
