The SchafbergBahn in St. Wolfgang, is considered the steepest cogwheel railway in Austria. In just half an hour, it has been transporting tourists and hikers from St. Wolfgang up to the summit of the Schafberg (1732m) every day since 1893. Passengers can choose between two exits.

In spring 2023, the new valley station of the over 130-year-old SchafbergBahn - was opened as a so-called ErlebnisQuartier. The building, an imposing glass-and-wood construction, is located not far from Lake Wolfgang. In addition to the ticket counter, it includes a small museum and a restaurant on the upper floor.
