Observation tower

The Holedná lookout tower was built in 2020 on a hill near Brno. The tower was originally designed to be 20m high. The tower made from steel measures in fact now 35m in height. 208 steps lead up to a platform at a height of 34m.

The highest observation tower in the Brno region is modeled on an oak trunk and was named observation tower of the year in the year it was built in 2020.

Material

HMR750 Tension Rod Systems

Thread sizes:

  • M12, M16 and M24 to reinforce the steel structure, partly in conjunction with gusset plates

guaranteed design load: up to 182 kN

special components:

  • The use of HMR750 turnbuckles allowed the over 34m long M24 Tension Rod Systems on the outside of the tower. For each turnbuckle, the adjustment range per system increases by +/- 30 mm

HMR Corrosion Protection

  • Systems hot-dip galvanised to DIN EN ISO 1461 in accordance with corrosivity category C3H
  • Special HMR thread coating corresponding to hot-dip galvanising => high corrosion protection and durability of the systems
