Aussichtsturm am Steinbruch Büchlberg, Deutschland

Observation tower at the quarry in Bergholz

Buechlberg, Germany

Observation tower

After several years of planning, a steel observation tower was built in 2019/20 on the highest point in the municipality of Buechlberg (Passau district), the so-called Bergholz (around 550 m above sea level).
The tower has the shape of a triangle and is almost 30 m high. The viewing platform with a 360° panoramic view can be reached via 140 steps at a height of approx. 25 m. It is protected by a 90 m² pyramid-shaped roof.

The lookout tower is located on the Buechlberg hiking trail no 8 and towers over the idyllic natural monument Steinbruch (quarry) with a lake up to 12 m deep.
